We are currently looking to interview suitable candidates for volunteer work at the Kent Owl Academy.
Do you have a love for birds of prey, owls and exotic animals?
Do you have drive, motivation and enthusiasm?
Do you pride yourself on your ability to work hard?
Can you talk to the public with confidence?
If you answered yes to all of these questions then you could be the kind of person that we are looking for...
As a volunteer at the centre, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the centre and the birds and animals within. This includes daily cleaning and food preparation, general maintenance of the centre grounds, conducting routine health checks on the birds and so much more.
YOU MUST understand the duties of the role. This is not a job that allows you to 'cuddle owls' all day. You will be very busy and expected work practically and efficiently.
At the KOA we thrive on passion and can offer ongoing support and tuition for those who show a dedication and flare for the industry.
Many of our previous volunteers at other establishments have gone on to pursue careers in the animal sector and we are always looking for new talent.
Note that this position is for people with a passion for:
owls and birds of prey and specialist exotics
If when asked, your reason for applying for this role is simply because you 'love animals' then you may want to reconsider your application. This is a very specific industry and you have to have a passion for it, otherwise you won't go far. We ALL love animals!
Applicants with experience are favourable. However, passion and enthusiasm are also big factors. This is an amazing opportunity for those looking to get a 'foot in the door' within the industry.
Those looking to perform in demonstrations will be favourable.
If your application is successful then you will be called for an interview.
Please send a CV, along with a cover letter explaining why you are applying for this role.
Applications without a cover letter will NOT be accepted.
Best of luck with your application.
